Excavation methods are mostly the traditional methods of excavation normally applied in construction work. They give the way for the ground to hold itself together during settlement and determine the kinds of stones to be placed in the soil for foundation construction. In addition, they also determine the volume and quality of soil that is suitable for plant growth.

Excavators, Shovel, Catapillar, Machine

There are two types of excavation methods – straight and curved. Straight excavation methods are usually used for houses and buildings. In these methods, workers dig straight into the earth and place the walls and foundations Excavation Hire Geelong. The workers place the earth towers and keep them erect until the ground is leveled out. On the other hand, curved excavation methods take the form of mechanical devices that open holes on both the ends. The hole will then be straightened out and secured with earth pressure.

In addition to these two excavation methods, there is a full open cut method used to build a road. This method requires the workers to dig a series of trenches that lead straight into the dirt. Once this is done, workers will line up along the trench and begin pouring the concrete. At the same time, they will continue to pour gravel until the desired level is reached. After the gravel is drained, workers will line it up and pour in the concrete.

Excavation Methods

Aside from full open cut method, there are also two other excavation methods used in construction – bracing excavation and anchor-driven excavation methods. In the bracing excavation method, the workers dig at least three holes of different sizes in the area that needs to be excavated. Workers line up in a square formation and start digging. However, the process does not stop until there is a sufficient amount of soil removed. After this, workers will place bracing pads in the excavated areas in order to support the load of the soil being excavated.

The next excavation method is called the archaeological excavation which is very similar to the previous method. However, this time, the load of soil is much heavier since the load is being placed on a very large area. This technique makes excavation easier since there is more room for movement is always advantageous. The only difference is that this technique uses modern materials to support the load of the soil.

Final Words

Development-led excavation is one of the most important types of excavations done by archeologists. They usually use robotic devices to carry out the excavation so that human intervention is minimized. These excavations usually take place along the boundaries of the property or in the underground rooms. In development-led excavation, the goal is to expose the archaeological remains of a site and document them for further study or research.
